Intro to Musical Improv (Winter '26)

Description

In this 6-week course, veteran musical improviser Tyler Paterson will teach you the fundamentals behind improvising for short form games! From understanding song structure, to emulating vocal and character styles, to incorporating movement, both beginning and experienced improvisers will discover new ways to stand in front of a crowd and confidently belt out a song. Each week will look at one or two new short form, Music Improv games and what is needed to be successful in them. This class includes a showcase performance on March 20th, with March 12th serving as a snow day makeup class.
